  The English Speaking Cancer Association is always looking for volunteers.
Upcoming Event for Volunteers :

VOLUNTEER TRAINING SESSIONS are scheduled throughout the year.

New volunteers follow a 12-hour volunteer training that includes an introduction to cancer, its treatments and side effects, basic communication and listening skills and ESCA's policies and guidelines. This training is at the cost of the participant. If you are interested in becoming an ESCA volunteer and would like to be considered for this training, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at :

NEXT VOLUNTEER TRAINING DATES Two training sessions are scheduled for 2010:

Spring 2010, One full day and two half days-

  • Tuesday, March 16th 9:00-16:00, Tuesday, March 23rd 13:00-16:00, Thursday, March 25th 13:00-16:00.

Autumn 2010, four half days:

  • Tuesday, September 21st 9:00-12:00, Thursday, September 23rd 13:00-16:00, Tuesday, September 28th 9:00-12:00, Thursday, September 30th 13:00-16:00.
 
  • One-to-one peer support for cancer patients and their loved ones
  • Help with monthly group meetings
  • Hospital visits
  • Practical help such as transport, shopping, child care, dog walking, etc.
  • Working the Drop-in Centre
  • Special events planning
  • Fundraising
  • Publicity
  • Marketing
  • Translating and interpreting
  • Library work
  • General administrative tasks
  • Website maintenance
