Many people can get support by talking to close family members or friends, but it may sometimes be useful to talk to someone from outside your immediate circle who has experienced cancer.
Our trained peer support volunteers are cancer survivors themselves or have personal experience with cancer through a family member or close friend.
They have a good understanding of what you are going through and can offer:
- emotional support and practical help before, during or after treatment and during recovery
- practical information gained through personal experience
- hope and encouragement, and a positive role model
- ideas about where to find more information
If you are interested in peer support, you can either call ESCA or e-mail us and our Support Coordinator will be happy to contact you.
