Volunteers are the foundation of ESCA. We cannot function without dedicated, committed people to carry out our services.
Due to the transient nature of expat life, we are always looking volunteers to help in the following areas:
- One-to-one peer support for cancer patients and their loved ones
- Helping with monthly group meetings
- Working the Drop-in Centre
- Special events planning
- Fund raising
- Publicity and/or Marketing
- Practical help such as transport, shopping, child care, dog walking, etc.
- Translating and interpreting
- Library work
- General administrative tasks
- Website maintenance
Volunteer Orientation Sessions
These sessions are scheduled throughout the year. New volunteers follow a 12-hour volunteer orientation that includes an introduction to cancer, its treatments and side effects, basic communication and listening skills and ESCA's policies and guidelines. This training is at the cost of the participant.
If you are interested in volunteering for ESCA would like to be considered for this training, the first step after becoming a member is to complete the online Volunteer Application. Please contact us if you have any questions by e-mail or calling 022 791 6305 and we will put you in touch with our Volunteer Coordinator.
