Steps for CancerSupport
Around the world in 20 days Challenge!
Steps for CancerSupport is a fitness and fundraising challenge organised by ESCA CancerSupport that everyone can take part in. One of our main goals is to replace the funds lost due to the cancellation of our annual fundraiser Paddle for CancerSupport which has been taking place every September since 2007 and usually covers around 35% of our budget.
How to register:
In 2021, our aim is to walk around the world twice (roughly 110 million steps) in 20 days to show that we support an international community of people affected by cancer. We have also added weekend challenges to virtually transport participants to famous trails and to encourage everyone to increase their own personal level of physical fitness. Physical activity has been shown to reduce the possibility of relapses and recurrences of cancer.
To take part you can:
- Register as an individual for a minimum donation of CHF 30.
- Register with a group of your friends together in a team of 10 for a discounted registration of CHF 250.
- Ask your employer to register a corporate team of 10 employees for CHF 1000.
- If you can’t participate – Make a Donation
Registration for the challenge will be open from 2 March 2021 until 9 April 2021.
The Steps for CancerSupport Challenge will start Friday 16 April and finish Wednesday 5 May at midnight CET.
How it works:
We are using the MyPacer app (www.mypacer.com) to track our collective and individual progress.
Once we have received your registration payment, we will send you instructions on how to download the app and set up your team no later than 10 April.
If you are entering a team, please give the email addresses for team participants in the comments box so that we can send them a link to download the Pacer app. (Each team member needs to add the Pacer app to their phone to take part in the challenge.)
You will be able to follow our progress, see weekend challenge updates, and get your friends to donate to the challenge on our Leaderboard page (Coming Soon!). Visit your challenge feed in the Pacer app to share photos and stories of your, or your team’s, progress.
We have created detailed guides for Steps for CS participants who are already registered in both English and French. Challenge Codes and Pacer download links can be found in your confirmation email. Fitbit may only be synced to Pacer after joining the Challenge.
