Erik enjoys his position as support to the supporters – working closely with the Counselling & Support Services Manager and the clinical volunteers. He is a certified Adlerian depth psychotherapist and training analyst who directs the Alfred Adler Institute in Suisse Romande. He also co-directs Family-Counselling Services in Geneva.
Erik’s early career involved field work and supervision within child protection, direct provision of services at children’s homes, and the supervision and development of staff. Although new to the Cancer Support Switzerland Board, he has worked closely with members of the counseling team, teaching and providing clinical supervision at Webster University/Geneva since 2006.
Erik completed his bachelor’s degree at St. Thomas Theological Seminary (Denver), his master’s degree in counseling at the University of Arizona (Tucson), and his PhD in depth/clinical psychology at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium).
His primary clinical interests involve optimal personal growth and the interface of psychology and spirituality. He has published related articles via book chapters, journal articles, and encyclopaedia entries. His interest in clinical work generally and Cancer Support Switzerland has been explicitly grounded by the personal impact of cancer and within his family of origin.
