Yoga at the Centre is a supportive class designed for individuals who have recently been diagnosed with cancer, are currently undergoing treatment, are within 12 months post-treatment, or are caring for a loved one affected by cancer.
Led in a calm and welcoming environment, the class incorporates gentle movement, guided breathing, relaxation, and mindfulness practices tailored to the needs of those impacted by cancer. These techniques may help ease some of the common physical and emotional side effects of treatment, including fatigue, stress, anxiety, and tension, while supporting overall wellbeing.
Evidence shows the important role physical activity can play in supporting recovery and improving quality of life following a cancer diagnosis. Yoga offers a gentle and accessible way to reconnect with the body, support the respiratory and circulatory systems, encourage relaxation of the nervous system, and foster a greater sense of balance and calm. Mindfulness and grounding practices may also help participants navigate difficult emotions with greater clarity, resilience, and self-compassion.
