Our volunteers are the heart and soul of ESCA CancerSupport. Many are either cancer survivors or have been caregivers so they can truly understand the cancer journey. Join our team and make a difference!

Nicola

Our volunteer coordinator

Our volunteers are here to:

  • support clients and their loved ones through the challenges that a cancer diagnosis brings
  • offer a welcoming drop-in centre to anyone needing a chat, cup of tea or information
  • increase awareness by running information stands, giving talks and representing ESCA CS at various community events
  • participate in and help organise other fundraising events

“Sue is one of our valued volunteers here at ESCA CS. Hear from her how you can become involved and what it means to be a volunteer. If you can help, we would love to hear from you.”

I am in awe of the camaraderie, the passionate willingness to help anytime anywhere, the belief in what we are able to achieve together…
all indications of a healthy organization. I am very grateful to be part of this family.”

Communications

Communication volunteers help with branding, publicity, advertising, updating our website, social media, putting together our monthly newsletter and annual report, helping with awareness events and fundraisers.

“I have received so much more than I have given by volunteering at ESCA CS .
Empathising with and helping those affected by cancer (which I went through myself) gives meaning to my life.”

Awareness

Volunteers represent ESCA CS at information stands at hospitals, international organisations, schools and more.  They participate in regional walks and runs such as the Terry Fox Walk, the Escalade and the Ligue Genevoise Marche contre le cancer.

Fundraising

Volunteers help with our Steps for CancerSupport as well as other events including the Open House and March for CancerSupport.

“Being an ESCA CS volunteer makes me feel very proud and it is a pleasure to spend time with such inspiring, supportive and positive people”

ESCA CS Centre

Our CancerSupport Centre volunteers welcome visitors, answer the phone, and provide administrative support. They look after the 300-volume dedicated lending library and keep our full set of Macmillan Cancer Support brochures (from the UK) up to date. Volunteers also maintain our lists of community resources.

Administration

Volunteers help with membership, database management, finances and accounting system, IT, collating of statistics, report writing as well as ad hoc administrative tasks.
