Yoga at the Centre is a class for individuals who have recently been diagnosed with cancer, are currently in-treatment, are within 12 months post-treatment, or are caregivers.
This class encompasses gentle movements, breathing exercises and relaxation and mindfulness techniques.
Physical activity has been shown to reduce the possibility of relapses and recurrences of cancer. With yoga for cancer patients, gentle techniques of breathing exercises, movements and mindfulness improve the body’s respiratory and circulatory systems, activate the parasympathetic nervous system, reduce anxiety and increase peacefulness. Mindfulness techniques— centering and calming—increase clarity and allow for better management of challenging emotions.
